Work history
Teacher of Digital Technologies (2021–)
Onslow College, Johnsonville, Wellington
I teach junior and senior Digital Technologies (Year 10 and Year 11), along with Software Engineering (Year 12 and Year 13) and Digital Media & Design (Year 12 and Year 13).
In Digital Technologies, I teach:
- basic web development skills with HTML and CSS
- vector graphics design using Inkscape
- video editing using OBS Studio, Openshot, Shotcut, Kdenlive
- basic programming in Swift
In Software Engineering, I teach:
- database design and implementation using LibreOffice Base
- advanced programming in Swift
- project management and version control in GitHub
- computer science concepts such as artificial intelligence, formal languages, etc.
In Digital Media & Design, I teach:
- following an inquiry to determine a suitable digital outcome to produce
- following the design process, including ideation, feedback, and refinement
- developing the designed outcome using industry-standard tools and conventions
In my time, I have overseen an overhaul of the in-house learning materials to a standardised formatthat includes concepts from Universal Design for Learning, consistent use of te reo Māori, and is built based on feedback from students.
I have also helped organise a school trip to Japan in 2026 to be undertaken later this year.
Teaching assistant (2019-2020)

I was a part-time teaching assistant, looking after a young man in a combined Year 3-4 and occasionally relieving classes Year 2 and Year 6.

I taught all levels of Digital Technologies with a focus on unit standards in senior levels. This was a one-year fixed term contract, followed by two years of relief teaching.

Studied applied linguistics at the post-graduate level. As part of this, I also completed my studies in French to the Honours level.

Studied French and English Literature/Theatre Studies.
Bachelor in Computing Systems (2011)
Eastern Institute of Technology, Taradale, Hawke's Bay
Studied a wide range of computing topics, including:
- Database administration and design
- Programming in C# and Java
- Systems analysis and design
- Object-oriented analysis and design
- Linux system administration
- Computer hardware
As part of this, I had also completed a Diploma in Information and Communication Technology (2009) and Diploma in Programming (2010).
